1-2-507. Transmittal of Voter Registration Applications

Overview of Statute

Voter registration agencies must send completed registration applications to the appropriate county clerk and recorder within five days of accepting the application. If within eight days of an election, the agency must inform the applicant that he or she will need to go to a voter service and polling center in order to vote in the upcoming election.

Statute

(1) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, a completed agency registration application accepted at a voter registration agency shall be transmitted to the county clerk and recorder for the county in which the agency is located not later than five days after the date of acceptance.

(2) Within eight days before an election, a voter registration agency shall accept the application and immediately inform the applicant that he or she must go to a voter service and polling center in order to vote in that election.

A bound compilation of initiative forms approved by the secretary of state, which shall include pages that contain the warning required by section 1-40-110 (1), the ballot title, the abstract required by section 1-40-110 (3), and a copy of the proposed measure; succeeding pages that contain the warning, the ballot title, and ruled lines numbered consecutively for registered electors’ signatures; and a final page that contains the affidavit required by section 1-40-111 (2). Each section shall be consecutively prenumbered by the petitioner prior to circulation.
