1-13.5-112. Commencement of terms – nonpartisan officers

Statute

(1) Unless otherwise provided by law, the regular term of office of a nonpartisan officer elected at a regular election commences the earlier of the following:

(a) No later than thirty days after the date that the election results are certified pursuant to section 1-13.5-1305 and upon the signing of an oath and posting of a bond, where required;

or (b) At the next meeting of the governing body of the local government following the date of the election.

(2) Unless otherwise provided by law, if the election is canceled in whole or in part pursuant to section 1-13.5-513, the regular term of office of a nonpartisan officer commences at:

(a) The next meeting of the governing body following the date of the regular election, but no later than thirty days following the date of the regular election and upon the signing of an oath and posting of a bond, where required;

or (b) If the nonpartisan officer was elected at an election other than a regular election, the next meeting of the governing body of the local government following the date of the election.

Definition [Section]

A bound compilation of initiative forms approved by the secretary of state, which shall include pages that contain the warning required by section 1-40-110 (1), the ballot title, the abstract required by section 1-40-110 (3), and a copy of the proposed measure; succeeding pages that contain the warning, the ballot title, and ruled lines numbered consecutively for registered electors’ signatures; and a final page that contains the affidavit required by section 1-40-111 (2). Each section shall be consecutively prenumbered by the petitioner prior to circulation.

Any election under the “Uniform Election Code of 1992” or the “Colorado Municipal Election Code of 1965”, article 10 of title 31, C.R.S. C.R.S. § 1-7.5-103.
